You arrive at the legendary Mont Rest in the afternoon of your first nights stay. Greeted with homemade fresh baked cookies, you are shown to one of the
twelve luxury suites at the Mansion. After you check in, you might want to put your swimsuit on and visit our deck top observation veranda. Soak in our party size
Jacuzzi with a view of the Mississippi River which is nothing short of spectacular. Our suites have some or all of the following: working fireplaces, two person whirlpools, queen or king size beds, imported chocolates, fresh flowers, heated towel bars, luxury Egyptian cotton robes and towels, hair dryers, bidets and panoramic views of the Mississippi River. (check our Rooms page for exact descriptions) There is an hors d`oeuvre party in the early evening to mingle with the other guests. You are then on your own for a little while to dine at one of the many area restaurants and eateries. (We will be glad to make reservations for you). Upon your return to the Inn, a decadent dessert awaits you. Tomorrow morning your Mississippi River adventure will begin.
The next morning, once again, there is a wonderful breakfast, and you are treated to a personal history and tour of Mont Rest before your departure.
You awake to a huge country breakfast and are then transported to a private dock in Bellevue where a boat is waiting to take you on a day long trip to historic Galena. Marvelous beverages and
canapés are provided during the trip. You will cross the Mississippi River and up the Fever River to Galena, Illinois. There you will disembark the boat and browse through the many fine antique shops, boutiques, wineries, and historic sights. Galena was home to six Civil War Generals including General Ulysses S. Grant.
You finish your day of shopping and sightseeing in Galena to return to our boat which will transport you back to Mont Rest where we will have an informal steak fry complete with all the trimmings. Yum!
After your steak meal you can look forward to an evening of merriment at the Mansion. This can include parlor games, a sing along with our 1905 player grand piano or if you wish you can quietly slip off to your room for a quiet candlelight
Jacuzzi for two or sit in front of the fireplace and watch a free movie from our extensive film library.
